Monument "Königstuhl" in Rhens

The "Königstuhl" monument in Rhens was built in the 14th century. In the year 1273 the rhenish archbishops met here to elect king "Rudolph von Habsburg". Later some elections of German Kings were hold here from the 14th to the 16th century. Then Frankfurt was the most important place for the elections and the Königstuhl ruined more and more. From 1841 - 1843 the Königstuhl was rebuilt by architect "Johann Claudius von Lassaulx". Today the monument is a great lookout point and a reminder of the Middle Ages, when the German Kings were elected by the seven "Kurfürsten".
