From Rüdesheim we follow the paths through the vineyards up to the Niederwalddenkmal (monument of Germania) with its Adlerwarte (view point). If you prefer you can go by cable car to the monument...

From here we continue to the Rossel and Rittersaal with fantastic views of the Rhein-Nahe-Eck (confluence of the two rivers) and the town of Bingen with its Mäuseturm, Burg Klopp, Burg Rheinstein and the ruin of the castle Ehrenfels. Passing the Zauberhöhle (magic cave) and the hunting lodge Niederwald we continue on the downward path to Assmannshausen, renowned for its red wine. You also have the option of taking the cable car down.
After we have reached the Höllenberg we come to the most picturesque part of the walk, taking the alpine rock path at the Teufelskadrich. From there the path leads downhill into the Bodental, then uphill again passing the Weinhaus Freistaat Flaschenhals and the camping site Suleika, to Georgs Ruh with its Drei-Burgen-Blick (three castle view). Enjoy the lovely view of the castles Rheinstein, Reichenstein and Sooneck.
After traversing another valley, the Bächergrund, we follow the winding path downhill to our destination Lorch, the former Freestate Flaschenhals (bottle neck)

Highlights in Lorch: Kunst- und Heimatmuseum, church of St. Martin with its famous carved altar and organ, the Hilchenhaus and Wispertal
