Rheinburgenweg Hiking Tour: Koblenz - Andernach

Koblenz - Andernach
Distance: about 25 km
Time: 6 - 8 hours
Altitude difference: about 320 m
Highlights in Koblenz: Deutsches Eck with Kaiser Wilhelm Monument, Castle Schloss Stolzenfels, Kurfürstliches Schloss, Chairlift to Festung Ehrenbreitstein with Landesmuseum, Deutschherrenhaus with Ludwigmuseum, Mutter- Beethoven- Haus, Mittelrheinmuseum, Liebfrauenkirche, Stiftskirche St. Florin, Kastorkirche, Historical Old Town...

Start of this tour is the "German Corner" in Koblenz...

From there we follow the river Mosel along the Alte Burg, the Balduinsbridge and the "Schleuse", and take the Kurt-Schumacher-Bridge to the other side to Koblenz-Metternich. Now uphill to the Kimmelberg we follow the sign "Übers Rath nach Güls". After the short walk through forest and meadows we reach the "Eule", a monument apon the Kimmelberg, from where we enjoy a fantastic view down to Koblenz. Back at the crossing we take the path direction to the "Windrad". Then always straight, passing the horsefarm we reach the village Rübenach. Along the Mühlstraße we reach the Aachener Straße, where we take the small path Im Binsel behind Hotel Schweitzer. Passing the church on the right side we take the bridge crossing the motorway A 48. There we take the second path on the left, that will lead us straight to Mühlheim. After Mühlheim we reach Kärlich and then Kettig. Through open landscape we come to Miesenheim and then along the small river Nette we reach Andernach on the rhine.

This tour along many cherry trees and stony paths is not very spectacular and not very well signposted. Just look forward to the next days beautiful walkingtour from Andernach to Bad Breisig.

Highlights in Andernach: City gates, Der Runde Turm, Erzbischöfliche Burg, Alter Kranen, Bastion Bollwerk, Kaltwassergeysir in Andernach-Namedy...
