Monument "Niederwalddenkmal" near Rüdesheim

The so-called Germania - built 1877 - 1883 by King Wilhelm I. - is a great lookout point high above Rüdesheim with panoramic views down to Bingen and into the rhine valley. The 38 meter high monument symbolizes the foundation of the new German Empire after the German - French wars. A cable car brings you up to the patriotic monument, which is a tourist attraction number one.

 

Ruin "Rossel" between Rüdesheim and Assmannshausen

Great viewpoint and picnic place "Rossel" between Rüdesheim and Assmannshausen.
This artificial ruin was built by "Graf Ostein" in 1774 as a part of a romantic theme park.
Walking up the stairs in the round tower you reach a small platform, from where you have a fantastic panoramic view down into the "Binger Loch" with the "Mouse tower" and castle ruin "Ehrenfels". Unfortunately the Rossel is open and accessible quite seldom...
