Castle Reichenstein was built in the 11/12th century. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times because of its strategic importance. In the 13th century the castle was held by formidable roober-knights until "Dietrich von Hohenfels" was captured and beheaded down at the "Clemens-Chapel" in 1282. Later Reichenstein became a ruin more and more.
1899 the castle was rebuilt by the new owners, the family Kirsch-Puricelli.
Today castle Reichenstein accommodates a hotel and a restaurant.
